In November 2014, Rob and I explored parts of Australia. Here’s what we were doing a year ago today.
Road trip – Alice Springs to Uluru
A good chunk of today was taken up with a 440 km road trip. The roads were one lane in each direction and it was a case of ‘follow that highway, turn off after the roadhouse and follow the next highway until you see the signs for Yulara (the ‘resort’ just outside the Uluru/Ayers Rock National Park)’.
Given the nature of the relatively barren landscape and lack of people, settlements or anything else, points of excitement included looking out for birds of prey hovering over the landscape, plus noting road signs for ‘floodway’, looking out for rare side turns and spotting the odd car or coach going the opposite way…
We went out to watch the sunset at Uluru earlier, which was fantastic.
Outback roadhouses (a little like a UK motorway services)
Uluru sunset (photos can’t really capture it)
If you’re going to do a food-based pun on where you’re based for the name of your business, I think you’d have to go a long way to beat this.
